Few people realize that a single missing tooth can trigger a domino effect and cause additional tooth loss. Living with a missing tooth can also cause a variety of oral health problems in the long-term. The teeth work together as a unit, so losing even a single tooth puts strain on the other teeth. Over time, the remaining teeth may fracture, drift, tilt, or even break. Adjacent teeth can start to shift into the empty spaces left behind from the missing tooth. When the domino effect leads to losing multiple teeth, you may encounter more severe complications such as:

1. Impaired chewing abilities. You may have difficulty chewing and be unable to enjoy your favorite foods. Eating a limited diet can compromise your nutrition and lead to constipation, weight loss, indigestion, and rheumatism.
2. Bone loss. When you lose a tooth, the underlying bone deteriorates and then collapses. 4. Deformity.
